Here are some steps for you to consider before designing or redesigning your Web site.

What is the goal of your site? You want to have a clear purpose in mind.

- A brochure to provide basic information with an e-mail and/or phone and mail contact?

- A catalog for your products or services with more extensive information?

- A marketing tool for your bricks-and-mortar business?

- An site to provide online commerce?

- Customer service?

Visit other sites. These could be sites of organizations similar to yours but needn't be. Determine what you like and don't like about them.

- Their features

- The overall appearance and navigation of the site

- The scope of the site and how this relates to what you'd like

Understand the costs involved in creating your site

- This cost depends on the number of distinct pages, how much of the content you provide as ready to use. It also depends on the complexity of the site. 

- This cost DOES INCLUDE domain name search and registration, setting up a Web host for your site and providing the initial marketing.
